Question by Sea Star: What is the finest kit airplane?
What is the greatest kit airplane?
A friend of mine desires to create an airplane from a kit. He is a extremely skilled instrument rated pilot. He has completed some investigation already but desires to know what others feel is the finest plane to construct on your own from a kit. He wants to develop a two-seater, preferably.

He generally flies below 10K feet high, prefers flying up to 200mph, typical trips 100 to 600 miles, Little to no aerobatics? enclosed bubble canopy or cabin-style is fine, Both high wing or low is fine (he currently flies high wing) Metal construction, Tricycle gear, STOL would be bonus but not required, fixed gear, Vintage replica not important, My friend is IFR rated but a VFR setup is ok, Side-by-side seating, non LSA, A “51% rule” partially constructed kit, Willing to by essential tools, limited metal working skills, 2 vehicle garage for shop space preferred…but hanger is an choice, ready to put 10 hours a week for three years into a “kit plane”, $ 75,000 price range.

Nicely, I’ve recognized a few individuals that did this.
I would say the price and hours commitment are a little low.

I think Zenith air guesses 500 hours. Thats actual “at-work” time.
Not counting cleaning up the garage, remembering where you left off time.
Doesnt consist of time / effort working with FAA or cameras to document your work.

So there is 1 year gone ( 52 weeks @ 10 hrs/week )

I was thinking about doing this a few years ago, but decided I am too impatient.
I want to fly now, not two years from now.

The kits are great, the instructions great.
There is assist out there, but it takes a bigger commitment of time and income than I thought I had,
and what if you are half way completed, and have to move ? Fairly costly to move the project too.

Very best of luck,
but I feel you need to really define what you want in an airplane prior to going after a kit.
Sounds like a cessna 182 would fit your requirments, and be less expensive!

Question by comediandisco: I just bought a RC Helicopter ” Z Deluxe 3 channel by Silverlit” and it doesn’t fly straight?
it always turns counter clockwise or clockwise but never straight.

on a good RC helicopter remote control transmitter there is a volume control like knob.You turn it left or right slightly to keep the copter straight.
