Abandoned Toys “R” Us

This old Toys "R" Us still stands empty at 2232 South Harbor Boulevard in Anaheim, California, a few blocks down the street from the Disneyland Resort. I can’t remember exactly when this particular store closed, though I do remember going here when I was little. It closed circa 2000, I’m assuming.

In 2011, the building was gutted and converted into a dinner theater attraction called Battle of the Dance.

Hi, I’m an admin for a group called Vintage Toy Stores, and we’d love to have this added to the group!

I was here in 2000 and the place was still open…

It is still there! I can’t believe it…but you’re right. I heard they are planning on making a hotel/high end complex in that lot but there’s controversy going on so it might stay like this for a while.

Just passed by it tonight, and it’s in the process of being gutted, with the inside of the store exposed. Not sure what’s going in, but it doesn’t look like it’s being demolished completely.

The most recent news that I’ve heard is that it’s being converted to a tourist "theme restaurant" like the ever-tacky "Medieval Times" over in Buena Park. I also went to this Toys R Us as a kid. Nothing was more exciting than when mom would drive me and my friends to this store to check out all the new games for our ColecoVision or eventually, Nintendo.

I passed by the other day and was surprised to see that’s a theatre-dinner show venue now. The area looks unrecognizable I had to do double takes a few times while I was driving by to make sure I was looking at the same area.
