I don’t know where you live (in the U.S. or other Country) but here in the U.S. we have cake pans made by Wilton & they come in various shapes & one is a truck.
All you have to do is worry about the decorating but they also come with suggestions as how to do that too.
Good luck.

Lets see…You could use a coloring book or other large basic picture of a tonka truck (enlarge to size you need the cake to be) and use it as a pattern. This may require making more than one square or rectangular cake and cutting it up into the basic shapes of the truck. Then you can use pre-maid frosting either in the ready to go decorating cans, or use the betty crocker kind and just add coloring to it and use your own decorating bags and tips.
If all this sounds too complicated, I would look where they sell cake decorating stuff (Michael’s or other craft stores) and see if I could find a pre-molded pan that would work. Good luck!

I raised 3 sons and have made every kind of cake they ever asked for. First, get a good picture of the simplest Tonka truck.

Swans Down Cake Flour has the “1-2-3-4 cake” recipe on their box. Bake 2 sheet cakes from this recipe. Allow to cool overnight on racks. Cut a piece of cardboard for the base and cover with foil or white freezer paper.

You will need a small box to turn upside down and use as the base of the truck. The wheels will not support the cake. Cut oblong portions of the sheetcake to stack on the box, for the body. Cut smaller pieces for the cab. Frost in between the layers.

Cut 4 rounds for the tires. Attach them to the side of the box with frosting. You can actually cover the box with a layer of frosting or cover it beforehand with foil.

The simplest frosting to make is 1 cup real butter, 1 cup crisco, and 2 boxes powdered sugar. Beat the softened butter and crisco together until fluffy. Slowly beat in the sifted powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring. As the sugar begins to cause the frosting to stiffen, add a tablespoon or two of warm water (or milk) to make the frosting spreadable.

This frosting can be colored and spread to form nearly anything. If you are handy with the cake decorator tips, you can make all sorts of things ahead, (like leaves, letters, flowers, hubcaps, little men, etc.) let set on wax paper to dry overnight.

It all takes time and patience and practice, (I taught myself) but nearly any kind of cake can be made with these two recipes.

    Good luck and God bless!
